Think Forward Health

Trauma therapy and EMDR with a Chartered Psychologist

Healing that honours your story.

Difficult experiences can leave lasting marks on how we feel, think and relate to others. Trauma-informed therapy helps you process the past safely, without being defined by it.

Understanding trauma

Difficult or frightening experiences can stay with us long after they are over. You might notice flashbacks, nightmares, feeling on edge, or feeling numb and disconnected from yourself and others.

Trauma therapy helps you process what happened at a pace that feels safe. I am trained in EMDR, a well researched approach recommended by NICE for post traumatic stress, and I combine it with gentle stabilisation work so you feel grounded throughout.

I see adults in person at my clinic in Swanley, Kent, and online by video or phone for clients across London, the UK and internationally.

Common signs of trauma

  • Intrusive memories or flashbacks
  • Feeling on edge or easily startled
  • Emotional numbness or detachment
  • Difficulty trusting others

How therapy can help

Safety comes first. We build stability and trust before carefully working through memories, helping your mind and body feel secure again.

  • EMDR

Help the brain reprocess distressing memories so they lose their emotional charge.

  • Trauma focused CBT

Understand and shift the beliefs that formed after trauma.

  • Stabilisation and grounding

Build safety and coping skills before working with memories.

  • Compassion focused work

Ease shame and self blame that often follow trauma.

Trauma therapy questions

Do I have to talk about every detail of what happened?

No. Particularly with EMDR, you do not need to describe everything in detail. We go at your pace and you stay in control.

What is EMDR?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) uses bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements, while you briefly recall a memory, helping it feel less raw.

Can EMDR be done online?

Yes. EMDR can be delivered safely and effectively online using adapted techniques.

Do I need a GP referral?

No. You can book a free consultation directly. If you plan to use private health insurance, check whether your insurer needs a referral first.

Is online therapy as effective as in person?

Research shows online therapy can be just as effective for many difficulties, and many clients find it easier to open up from home.
